Unconventional, innovative, perhaps not very effective but beautiful. The six-wheeled Tyrrell made the his first appearance on the track in 1975, to then take part in the Formula 1 World Championship in the two following seasons. Born from Derek Gardner's mind, this car was characterized by four front steering wheels, three inches smaller in size than traditional ones. The intent was to improve the aerodynamic drag coefficient. But the other side of the coin was excessive understeer. Equipped with a Ford Cosworth DFV engine 3.0 V8 485 HP for a weight of 575 kg, the Tyrrell P34 only won Swedish Grand Prix of 1976 with Jody Scheckter. At the end of 1977 the P34 project was definitively shelved.
